What do you get when you mix 30 kayak anglers, a starter battery, an amplifier, an electric guitar and musician Trip Rogers? A National Anthem launch to remember!

The 1st Annual Hardcore Kayak Fishing Team Tournament rocked from start to finish on Saturday, October 3 in the upper stretches of Lake Wylie, just below the Mt. Island Lake dam. Plenty of water was covered and plenty of fish were caught, including the 5-fish tourney winning CPR limit by YakN (no easy task when none can be within an inch of each other...).

See Page 2 for more details.

Awesome blog Jeff.
Congrats on the prize and good performance.
Even with other tourneys in the future I know the first will always be my favorite. I was proud to have guys from all over come and support the cause and the tourney. Next year will be bigger and badder for sure. All you guys are welcome to come back and fish with the Hardcore boys anytime !
The shakey head I had must have been defective !
Here`s a link to a slideshow Diane made. Alot of you guys are in it and may want to snag some. Not sure if you need to sign up to download but I will get them in our photobucket site and you can get them from there soon.

Thanks Tim! I had a blast, but was a little off my "social" game - pics weren't great and neither was my chit-chat. Getting pretty sensitive to my beauty rest as the years roll by - its not getting easier to be hardcore!

I added a page 4 to collect links to things like Diane's slideshow. If anybody else has pic links or writeups let me know and I'll add them to the list. I'm sure stu & co would like to get the links posted to the Hardcorekayakfishing.com site too. I would like to see more fish pics and some of the southern area of the tourney site. Where's Toba's beast? Anybody else catch a good one? Any big spots?

Jeff, great blog. Until reading this I didn't put 2 and 2 together as to who you were. Congrats on the finish! If you want to hit some triangle waters in the near future give me a shout. Tight lines!

Thanks Drew... I kept bouncing around the conversations and didn't get a chance for a formal introduction. Congrats on your raffle prize - aside from the trophy and bragging rights that was the golden nugget! I got to meet Froggy Waters and Ghost. Already knew Turtlestew and Toba from other events. Don't recall running into Rodnocker. I think that's all of the Triangle-area crew, at least that I recognize from the Confirmed anglers thread.

Did Mr. Bobby put you on some fish Saturday afternoon?

I have fished with Toba and Froggy locally and got to meet Turtlestew and Ghost for the first time. I didn't meet anyone else from the Triangle area. Mr. Bobby gave me a couple tips, but honestly, I didn't catch a single fish in those areas. I got one just up river from the launch on the far bank and three down from the launch on the near bank. Unfortunately I had 2 overlaps, so could only measure 2. I got them all on a t-rigged worm. In hindsight, there were a couple spots I should have spent more time really fishing hard, but oh well. I also had a few spots I wanted to hit that every time I looked at there was somebody fishing, but that's the way it goes.

I did have a bass magic swimbait ripped completely off the hook, which I have never had happen before (it screws into the hook). I was throwing it off a deep tree and all of a sudden my rod bows completely over for about 2 seconds and then goes slack again. I reeled in a hook. I am not sure what type of fish it was, but I am pretty sure it was carrying some weight.

It would be fun to get one or two of these together in the Triangle, but unofficially (ie - just for bragging rights).
