Drum, Drum and more Old Drum. How about wife with her first. If you haven't caught one, nows the time. Don't have to fish at night but you can. Fish drops and ledges with FRESH bait and plenty of it. Blue fish and other bait stealers are hungry too.
Nice slot drum catches with flounder (most too small) mixed.
Spanish mackeral in river feed on all this bait. Trolling with spoons or plugging when they are seen feeding works. Most caught are too smal - measure before you keep.
Remember my and Shrine Club tournaments coming up. Want alot of participants to make events a big success. Applications and information links on my web page.
Will have live shrimp next week if weather cooperates for those who don't catch their own.

Fish Safe and keep only what you eat,
Capt Dave... [Read More]

Alot of shrimp being caught with cast net and resulting in some nice numbers and size of trout. Reports of numerous limits of nice fish.

Weighed in a real nice flounder - 5.32 pounds caught on river bank. Good to see some bigger flounder with the numbers of small ones still being caught.

Large Drum are running hard now. Fishing ledges and drops is the ticket with fresh or live bait on Capt Owen rigs to help preserve the resource. Have heard of catches from 1 - 20+ fish per trip.

Spanish also being caught in river. Pull 00 Clark Spoons on #1 or 2 planers or trolling weights. I use handlines with planers.

Trout bite has been real good with some fair size fish being caught. Numerous limits as seen in my photos of my Raleigh gang. How about Little One (Ryan). Tough fishing family. Live shrimp, grubs and mirrolures working. Alot of blue fish to get through though.

Big drum are on in sound and Neuse River. Fresh mullet with fresh change of baits on hook a must. Remeber to use care in handling drum to return safely to their habitat.

Let me introduce myself. I am Capt. Dave Stewart of Knee Deep Charters/Minnesott Beach Bait & Tackle. I am happy to join NCangler.com as a Blog Captain and look forward to posting regular fishing reports from our area of the state. Please feel free to contact me about area fishing and tackle needs. We are located in Minnesott Beach and cover the lower Neuse River and Pamlico Sound area.

Just got in off a "hot" morning - lots of small trout and flounder around fishing first thing in the AM. They were hitting top water mirrorlures, spooks, gulp and DOA. I was using glow under rattlefloat and did well.

BTW in our store we are setting up to take credit cards so will be able to ship items if needed. Shrimping is going well and they are getting bigger. We can set you up with bulk orders at discount pricing. Till next time....

Safe Fishing
Capt. Dave
