carolina beach weekend

I'll be spending a weekend at carolina beach (sept 19-22). will be staying on the beach and thought about taking the 9 weight. If someone could give me some decent info, patterns to try, will the beach still be packed, better areas to try etc. I plan on taking clousers, surfcandy and mushmouths, but what other patterns should I tie up. not really concerned with specific species, will be happy with mullet, pompano, spots whatever wants to eat at the time. seeing how most of you guys on this site are saltwater gurus someone should have some tidbits . thanks
