Default The Dream Day

Greetings fellow liars, and fish addicts,
Today was the dream day for trout fishing for me. On a hunch I decided
to stay off of new delayed harvest waters, and try some public water I've been
hitting. I was hoping the pressure would be off since D.H. just started.
I hoped the honey holes would be open.
I was right!
when I arrived to the river it had a bit of a stain, so I decided to go with
some tried true flies..... the usual junk flies, buggers,SJW's, but to no avail
I could tell the fish seemed keyed into bottom feeding. It was almost as if they
were acting like the big hawgs they were. They pushed and burrowed into the bottom
looking for the morsels they desired. I just knew they must be keyed onto either some caddis
casings or maybe some stonefly nymphs...I tried to match for the nymphs.
I ran a size 14 BH hare's ear on top, and dropped a size
16 hare's ear olive no BH. Then I added three BB sized shots, and "bam" it was on.
The combo produced the best day I have EVER had. My total numbers for the day
was around 20, with at least half over 15, and 4 of them over 17!!
After loosing my last H.E. I tied on a 18 soft hackle, and landed my
best sow to date. She measured out a cool 21.5 and was a **** nice trophy
bow. I really wish i would have had a partner to help with some pics.
I've had better number days, but nothing like the day today.
I unlocked the "code", my gear performed great with not a one tree snag or lost flies,
my fish were all brought to net and released absolutely wonderfully. I only had a couple of fouls, and all of my big fish were fair hooked.
It was AMAZING.

If I die tomorrow I hope heaven is like my day on the stream.
My net is a standard Orvis catch and release net. The net is eighteen inch long basket.
A nice shallow run brownie.

a 15 inch rainbow

an 18 inch bow

another gorgeous 16 inch brown

Does it get any better !!!!!!!

And to top it off a 21.5 rainbow!!!!!!!!!

B REX!
