    Pgene21.. you have recieved some great advise. I do recommend that you get a heavier rod for one. Even with an 8 wt rod...you still will want to shorten your leader to about 5-6 ft. and use heavier leader as well. Allen ... tarheel fly flinger & myself make our own ...we taper our leaders down using the blood knot. We generally use a 25-30 lb test section about 12 '' long for the main butt section that attches to the fly line...the shorter & stiffer the leader is ....it will turn your fly over properly with less effort. I still think you should get a heavier rod if you are going to be throwing alot of heavier flys. I wish you luck... just ask us if you have anymore questions...we're here to help if we can.
