Default French Broad

Hello ladies and gents. I am new to the board. I live in Greenville SC but once lived in Brevard for about 6-7 years.

Waded French Broad River between Bent Creek and Airport both Friday and Sunday. Fish caught in holes between 3 to 5 feet. Most holes wouldn't hide my car.

Friday:
Water was about 1.5 to 2 foot visibility. Caught 2 after 5 hours of hard fishing. Only 4 bites all day. Had to hit them right on the nose jigging a #6 chart/white clouser about 1.5 inches long. Never felt a bite, they just stopped it like a rock.

Sunday:
3 to 4 ft visibility. Still had to hit them on the nose but caught 7 and lost 3 on #6 olive woolybuggers and chart/white clousers. 5 caught and 3 lost between 6:30pm and 8pm. Still biting soft. Most of them I thought were rocks.

All fish were between 12 and 16 inches except for several 5 inchers which I didn't count. All faught like crazy.

Saw several other guys fishing but only saw them catch a couple of fish.

Both days tried top water and fast retrieved minnow patterns but they would not chase anything or come up out of the rocks.

Gotta love them smallies even when they are tight lipped.

Tight lines,

Derek
