Default Back From Topsail

Well, just got home from Topsail...........alot of fish around the Surf City Pier, but nothing spectacular. I had 2 Tarpon to roll on my bait, with no hookups. Thursday morning early, I was King Fishing by myself, and hooked up with a 7 ft Blacktip. He was a handful! 45 minutes of Tug-o-War, and had him beside the pier..........one of the regular Spanish fishermen, tried to help, but the Shark ended up wrapping the piling before we could get a gaff in him.
There were tons of juvenile spanish to be caught, but, the bigger Spanish, were very picky.
A sure sign Fall is just around the corner.......Mullet! Mullet! and More Mullet!!, running the surf. From finger size, to a couple of pounds, they were everywhere, every day. A big shark, approx. 10 ft, was spotted Tuesday morning, chasing Mullet, in 2-4 feet of water.
Went Drum fishing with Topsail Angler on Wednesday, with very little luck, probably due to all the weekend boat traffic near his favorite spot. Did manage a couple of small Flounder, a small Grouper, and a small Puppy, between us. But, it's always good to get out and fish with a good friend, and I always enjoy fishing with Mike.
