Default Topsail report - December 2005

12/3/05 - Went out this morning before day break and again this afternoon just before dusk. Trout, Trout and more Trout was the order of the day.

This morning it was very chilly, 36 degrees when I launched the boat, had to wear my long johns under my slicker. This morning fished the last couple hours of the incoming. Fished a deep slough with black mud and a nice ledge on the edge of one side. The trout seemed happy to oblige my offer of breakfast. None of my trout were over 15" though. But my fishing buddy landed a four pounder!

Went back out at 3pm to a place I fish in "low water" and fished till dusk. Caught a few but it was much slower than this morning. I found a ton of pop-eye mullet this afternoon in the creek behind my house, saving those for tomorrow. All my trout today were caught on jigheads with gulp (didn't seem to matter what color or shape today). My buddy caught his on a Rapala XRap lure - silver/blue I think.

Heard reports of one nice size drum being caught at the mouth of the Inlet and a few flounder back up in the mud.
