Let me back up to Friday afternoon, heading out for my first time kayaking in saltwater. Realizing right off it was not going to be a fun paddle across, heading into 15-20mph wind and waves splashing over the bow. Watching Kevin and Brian throwing cast nets, and asking questions, just taking it all in. A little easier paddle behind Zeke's island offered some protection and rounding the bend toward Cribbin's ? looked like the fishing was about to begin when the weather report came up as a warning. Turned around and started back to find the wind had done a 180* and forced to paddle against the wind back. My tent and mat at camp was soaked (missing rain fly) so it was an uncomfortable sleep. Sat... The camp ground is gated off till 8am, so no early fishing for us. The paddle out alot easier than Friday, but felt the pains. While sitting in the eddy near Cribbins, and watching people go threw the current or try to, i turned my 'ride' into the current and dug into it, making it threw, just to turn around and head for lunch. The shore lunch was cool seeing/meeting the fellow kayakers. Talked to Ashley's dad while he darkened my hotdogs a bit more. Kind of went threw the motions of fishing all day.
Sorry for the long post, but in short the weekend was brutal, frustrating, educational, wet, and fun.... looking foward to the next time.
