Eno/Penny's Bend - 04/08/2008 Made it down to Penny's Bend this morning WITH a fishing pole this time. I figured the water would be running a little faster and the whites might be pushing up that way. About 8 cars in the lot when I got there. Saw a guy with a 2lber on his string (among about a dozen) - he was leaving as I was pulling in. Found an open spot down by the Old Oxford bridge and went to work. People up and downstream catching fish (looked better downstream - guy had about 40+ on his stringer and some OK size close to a pound).
Started with tiny rattlin' raps but no action. Switched to a shad dart in chart/white and got one on the first cast. Then nothing. Saw that the guy downstream from me was using a spinner or roadrunner so I switched to a 1/4oz rooster tail in silver/white and it was ON. Caught a quick half dozen then moved back above the bridge and caught another quick half dozen. Wound up catching at least 12 in the next 30 mins. Nothing of any size - all 6-10in but fun, fun, fun... Get em while the getting is good! |
