 Kure Beach/Wrightsville Beach
Made it down to the beach this weekend and fished at Kure Beach on Saturday. We didn't get to the pier until around 2 and evidently missed the action. People had caught some nice blue earlier in the morning on fresh mullet. I think the biggest was 11.5. We plugged for a while then tried some cut bait but no luck. Still a fun day and there was some of street festival going so there was some nice scenery.
Today was much better at Johnie Mercer's in Wrightsville. 3 of us fished for about 2 hours and caught around 30 blue. Most were in the 1-2 pound range and all caught on Gotcha plugs. Didn't seem to matter what color as everyone on the pier was catching them. Someone caught a 17" spanish too, I think someone said it was the first of the season so far. Nice day and nice pier. |
