Default kerr crappie, 5/10/07

Fished Kerr yesterday a.m. Beautiful sunrise over smooth water. Fished submerged willows and brush along the banks up a creek. A 1.75 pound channel cat around 9 am put the skunk behind me. Then found the crappie around 9:30. Six total, 2 of which were 1/2 pounders, the rest around 1/4 pound. Pulled a couple off of a submerged tree trunk. Used a 10 foot telescoping fiberglass rod to reach into the brush. Made for a fun fight, especially with the catfish! All caught on live minnows in 6 feet of water.

Probably could have caught a lot more if my boat was more maneuverable. Seems like you can catch a few in one spot, then need to move on to the next. Also seems like you have to try several spots before you find the one that holds the fish. But when you find one, there's probably a couple more in there.

Funny when you carry a few hundred dollars worth of rods, and catch all your fish on the $10 panfish pole .

No records broken, but when I come home with 6 decent crappie and a catfish for the frying pan I'm a happy camper!
