 Roanoke river 5-3 thru 5-6
First of all, sorry for the late post. Just have got cable back after those bad storms. We went on our annual Weldon trip on 5-3. We took around 90 shad with us and stopped and bought herring from Capt. Poneytail on the way in. The only luck we had on shad was on the small 3" threadfins, never caught a fish on any of the bigger ones. They wanted those herring...live....dead....or cut. We ended up fishing 4 days and catching around 530 stripers. I caught a tagged fish and also caught a hybrid and my brother caught a 13.5" flounder. The biggest striper was 9 lbs. and had about 25 fish in the slot (22"-27") and the rest were smaller. We had a great trip and caught them like crazy but couldn't get any bigger fish. Already looking forward to next years trip. |
