Popping bugs, Crickets and Bream
headed out this morning with only one mission to be accomplished, catch some fresh bream for supper. Stopped at Mom & Pops on hwy 24 between Beulaville and Knenasville, NC and bought a tube of crickets ($3.50) and a pond pass with boat ($7). Multiple ponds are located here. I fish the ones marked.
The NE Cape Fear has flooded several times over these ponds and there usually is some great bream fishing. I started the morning with my fly rod and wanted to put a few in the boat with it. I fished almost complete around the pond and only caught a few on the popper. So I switched to crickets. I put 2 bream busters out with crickets and fished about 6-7 foot down. That pond is about 10-12 foot deep. I ended the morning with 16 decent bream, a couple of em were smokers.
tight lines <*)))))>{
