Fished a church tournament today at a BEAUTIFUL 15-acre farm pond in Raleigh. Unfortunately the fishing was slow-- the biggest bass of the day was caught right beside me by a pastor's boy, about 2lbs, but was caught before the actual start of the tourney so it didn't count.
Biggest official fish was a 2lb catfish.
The only fish I caught the whole time was a 1-pound bass on a white spinnerbait. To my utter shock I caught absolutely nothing on my trusty old 4" silver/black Rapala

.
HOWEVER.....
Thanks to the good folks at Eagle Claw Tackle, I came home with TWO more rods than I went there with. My wife won a rod and I won a rod on the door prize drawing, lol. Both are light-tackle bream/crappie rods. Looks like I'm stocking up fishing tackle for my little boy/girl (we don't know yet) who is due in November. How young can you teach a kid how to bait a hook?
So all in all, not bad! (Not to mention all that Baptist good eatins at the picnic)
Thanks!
