Default Horton's Pond 6/8/08

Decided to brave the heat this afternoon and head to Horton's Pond in Chatham County. Got there around 4 and fished for a while with no luck and then switched my worm to a Zoom Horney Toad and had a real nice one come off right at the bank. He threw the frog at me and smiled a little I think. I'm guessing he was around 5 or so. I switched to a chatterbait and missed another good one. He hit it real close to shore and messed up my hook set I recon. A little bit later I hooked up to the one in the picture that went 5.96. I thought it was a ten pounder by the way he hit it but still happy. Those were the only 3 bites I had, took off around 7.

Thought I'd post a few pictures from a trip we took last weekend up to the James for some smallie fishing too. It was my first time up there and was a blast. We probably caught around 75-80 Friday and Saturday combined. My brother and I each caught one around 4 lbs a piece which were the biggest of the trip. Most were caught on senkos with a few on crankbaits. All released to fight another day. Can't wait to get back up there. My mom's fiance was generous enough to paddle us around for the whole weekend, I think we covered around 20 miles or so. He use to run a guide service up in VA and we really learned alot from him.
