Default It's all about the Alligator Gar!

Few weeks ago, Ken and I had the pleasure of visiting Lumber River State Park, just outside of Wagram, almost in Scotland County. The park itself provided for some gorgeous Alligator Gar and a few Bowfin/cats. But the real deal is right up the road from it. There's an old bridge there (to the left if you're coming in from Fayetteville/Raeford) with it's own little boat/kayak launch and the fishing there is hard to beat! I hooked up with about a 3 foot Gar on cut bream fillet but getting him up to the bridge was something he just wasn't in for. So he snapped my line (and leader) like a twig with one shake of his toothy grin - But hey, still counts right? We ended up bringing up and in a total of 7 Alligator Gar and a decent Channel cat! Was my boyfriend Ken's first "fish with teeth" in NC (He's from PA and used to Pike fishing)... Indeed a place you guys should check out if you're ever in the area.
