Shad fishing is just arround the corner. I'll be running trips on Pitch Kettler Creek near Vanceboro/New Bern with openings March 2, 8-17 for both full and 1/2 days.
I'm also offering full and 1/2 days at Weldon March 18 to 23.

Capt. Gary, are you into the shad yet? I hear somebody is catching a few up around your creek now. AL

Sinker Man, I've not been yet, but my sources tell me there is a few fish. Herring are moving in and it looks like it will be an early start to some good shad fishing

Thanks Al!! It is usually a pretty consistent bite on the Neuse and the Roanoke is remarkable. It's to bad it such a hard trip to sell. After a month or two of not catching much or anything the shad catching is a lot of fun.

Hey, after a couple of months without eating fish shad even taste pretty good. I wouldn't stock my freezer with them though.;) I guess its a good thing the perch aren't far behind. AL

Gary heard reports last week before the warm up that the shad were at Pitchkettle netters were getting some and lure fishing was picking up. Some guys were suppose to go today.

Thanks luremaker! I hope they're waiting till this afternoon.....brrrrrr!
I heard they were getting them in net. The nets are thick at the bridge at New Bern as well....always a good indicator the run is on its way.
