Another morning paddle trip at falls. 2 weeks ago this would have been a great day, but its kind of pale in comparison to recent outings.

Fish are still active at the mouth of upper barton, but I didn't run into any of they really big whites today, nor the frantic action (no doubles). Wound up with 4 fish.

2 like this - 15" Whites, both on the same trolled floating shad colored shad rap:

The other fish was a dink LM that I got by flipping a silver buddy into a set of surface boils.

Its got all the right structure for this time of year - 2 major creek channels, a main lake channel bend a couple of long sloping points and an island. But I think it's key attribute right now is that's where the baitfish are congregated. Until it rains and scatters the baitfish or until the poor baitfish are all eaten, the predators will probably hang around there. I'm just lucky that they're camping out in a kayak-accessible location for the time being. Hope somebody else gets a chance to take advantage while they're "captive"...

I'm only targeting the dumb ones. I'm leaving all the smart ones down there for the rest of you!!

(actually, I'm leaving all them there for the rest of you... each one goes right back where it came from, hopefully a little smarter than it was before we met)
