I'm usually a trout fisherman but that's kinda slow where I was fishing this week-end. However, fools get lucky every once in a while, and I found some drum poppin' bait fish near a creek mouth sat. morning. A good number of five pounders equals hook-bending fishin' fun.
Where: mouth of a creek. 18 to 24 inches of water.
When: early morning at/around low tide.
How: Mirrolure Top Pup (red head white body), and Zman artifical shrimp fished with a 3/16 jig head.
How big a school: probably 50-100 on the fish guestimation of Red Drum. 1 big shrimp.
Results: 22 hook-ups and 9 fish landed. 14 inch fish to 26 inch. (2 mornings)
