Yesterday morning i went out around 8 and tried it out. I used a pumpkin fire lizard texas rigged. In the past they kill that lure. The water was a little clearer than normal. The bass were rolling everywhere. The rolling where the top water swirls and then you see them zig zag back out to deep water. Well i couldnt get em to bite. Is it possible they may have seen me?? It looked that way because there were a few around the bank here and there and the water would swirl big time and then zig zag out to middle of the pond. Keep in mind im trolling the banks the whole time now.

It looked like they were feeding on the small fish because i'd see a small break here and there followed by a huge swoosh break in the same areas. if you look very closely sometimes you can see a big fin peak out the top water too

Remember I said in the last report about the Spanish Mackerel being a little farther out than I like on a 1/2 day trip.
Well, I was heading out there this morning, but, the ENE winds had other plans for us.
It got to "kicking" pretty good and we wern't even two miles off the beach and had 12 more to go!!!.
With a couple already feeling a little questionable, I decided not to do it.
I had told them at the dock before we left this morning that the Spanish Mackerel fishing had been slow lately at best, even some days producing nothing.
I never mentioned what I had seen yesterday so as not to get their hopes up just in case what happened, happened.
They were still happy to stay out and see if we could find something. So, we went searching!!!
I tried pretty much everywhere and not a bite. I was trolling towards the reef when Emmit Banks called me on the radio and told me the Spanish Mackerel were jumping between the pier and the condo's.
I had just left that area... But, just maybe I didn't get close enough to shore!!! I turned and ran back to the area.
Sure enough, 13 feet of water, on the beach in all the mullet was the key.
We caught all they wanted, didn't have to run out in rough water, stayed close to the beach where the NE winds had it slick flat, had a great morning of fishing with some great folks with the bonus of some catching, so I guess I can say that with a few modifications, a plan came together after all!!!!
So, yes, I love it when a plan comes together!!!!!!!!
Oh yeah, Thanks Emmit for the "heads up", I'll return the favor soon I hope!!!!

I have been charging my two 12v for over a week and I noticed that one battery was still reading at 85%. Those were being charged with my on board charger. Last night I pulled the 12v battery reading 85% out and charged it with my portable. It read 100% this morning. I just took it to batteries plus for a load test and it read full power. I am now thinking that it could be the on board chager. Has anyone ran into this before where the charger only gets one battery to 85% and the other to 100%? I know they are hooked up right because I had my marina in MN hook the new battery up and everything was working great the past two months.

The reason I started researching this was because I ran out of battery power after 6 hrs out on the water. I was not running the trolling motor hard and the electronics were all being used as normal.

I thought it was an issue with the battery because it seems like one battery is pulling power from the other which is why I load tested it. Just strange.

Thanks guys
After getting skunked a few times fishing Mason Inlet, I decided to bring my longer rods and fish in the surf. I was using a fireball rig with shrimp, fishing near sunset and high tide. I thought I hit the jack pot, since on the first cast hooked up on a bluefish. I had a few more small bites (pinfish probably), and then it went dead for about an hour. I thought I was about to give up but then saw a bluefish cut through a school of mullet. Landed two more bluefish, a spot, a whiting, and on the last cast caught a little aquarium sized pompano. None of the fish had any size, but still had a lot of fun. God Bless and Good Fishing!
