I picked up my new Nauticstar 1910 on Sat. and took it for a slow ride yesterday to start the break in process. It has a slight vibration at very low RPMS.I was told that stainless steel props will do this since they are heavier than alum.Just wondering if anyone else had this problem before.

I picked up a 14' semi-v jon boat with trailer and Evinrude 9.5 for a song (it was a song and a dance, but I talked him down). I've got the boat registered, put the new NC numbers on it, trailer titled and motor has been bucket tested. I'm taking her out to Lake Wheeler today for testing. Figured that would be a good place to be able to run the motor and check for leaks on the boat since the lake isn't to big and wouldn't be that far if I need to flag down help. I'm guessing I'm gonna have a couple of leaks in the seams since it's a fairly old boat but shouldn't be anything much worse than seepage. If anyone is out at wheeler today after church and you see me, throw up a hand and say hi. I've included pics of the new addition to the family.

I want to test out my outboard some and was wondering the best way to run it out of the water. I have muffs for it but I don't think they will cover the intake holes very well. When I bought the motor, the guy I bought it from hooked a hose directly to a port on the upper end of the motor and ran the water in from there. I think he hooked up the hose to the exhaust port though and, thought the water seemed to run through the motor, I don't think this would be the best way to test it out. I know I can run it in a bucket, but I am trying to avoid that for now. I've included a picture of the motor. The red arrow is where he held the hose to, and the green arrow is pointing to what I believe is the water intake. This is 1964 Evinrude 9.5hp outboard, model # 9422r.

I have had several people ask me what this 90 degree pipe is on the back of my boat. Also hear a lot of people complain of bait dying while running. A lot of boats come with high speed pickups, but most smaller skiffs and such do not. All I did was take my strainer off, and put a 90 on in its place. Screws right on. I then cut the angle on the 90 so water is forced in. Just remember to cut the pump off when running. The water comes in while on plane, faster than the pump itself when sitting still. Works like a charm. If your live well would ever happen to get stopped up, all you do is take the nozzle off inside the livewell. It will throw the obstruction out. Works like a charm keeping minnows alive, or keeping flounder, drum and such alive. No worries about running, and no more slowing down for the livewell to get freshwater.
