Talking Cats on Jordan 5/24/08

I took my 6 year old daughter out to Jordan Lake (Ebenezer) Saturday, 5/24 for some catfishing. We caught a dozen bream in about 30 minutes at 7:30 pm ... got bait, check. Daughter was asleep by 10 pm. First cat came at 12'ish. Moon came up and it was on. Daughter woke up ready to crank em' in. Ended up with 14 channels, with 9 being keepers at 3 to 7 lbs, all caught between 12'ish and 3 am.

Best part of night came with the hooking of this 26" striper and this monster largemouth bass. I did not weigh either, due to taking so much time getting hook out with pliers, taking picture, etc. I feel like I'm on a time bomb when keeping fish out of the water, so I didn't fool with weights. However, I did measure the striper out of curiosity. I've catted for many, many years and never caught a striper on a piece of cut bait on the bottom. I have caught bass at night like this on random occasions. The striper nailed that rod. I nearly jumped out the boat scrambling to get that rod out of the holder ... as for my experience at Jordan is that there aren't many cats out there that can man up on a rod like that.

Exceptional night with an exceptional friend, my girl. I just need to train her to take pictures ...
