Hello all just thought I would start a thread to see if we can share information for those who may not be as versed as others in catfishing. If you would like please talk about your suggestions for appropriate equipment for catfishing in our area. I am sure that we all have our opinions on equipment but if you can give your thoughts on Rod, Reel and Line that would be a great start. Lets share some knowledge.

I personally have used some of everything in my time fishing and after all this time I have come to really like Abu Garcia Reels. I have a 6600 with a 6' med hvy action rod that works great for cats in the 12 to 20 pound size group. The bigger stuff requires heavier equipment such as the 7000 Abu and a rod 7 to 8 ft in a med hvy to hvy action.

The line is a matter of debate. I have used about every thing on my 6600 now I use a Cortland 50lb test that is the dia of 20lb. it works great. In the larger 7000 Abu 40lb mono works well.
