Well I am going to ask for participation in a little exercise in data collection. Catfish Angler Association will be gathering data on our catch to provide the NCWRC Biologist. This data will assist them in gaining a better picture of the catfish population in the state.
The data we will be collecting will be some what minimal in nature; Type Fish, Weight, Length, and Location the fish was caught in. I know fishermen are reluctant to give up the exact spot they fish but a general area would be nice. Example Between Riverside boat landing and Train Trussel on the Cape Fear River. The better location would be an exact GPS location as per the Biologists.
We are not looking to put anyone out but if you can provide the information it would help the NCWRC greatly. At this time they are not placing much effort into the catfish due to problems getting the fish to sample. Our assistance could have far reaching effects on the catfish in our state.
Thanks in advance for anyone who participates. I will be attaching a form to use to collect the data. When you are complete with the form you can return it to me and I will get them to the state. They can be e-mailed to me or I can give and address to send them to.
