Default Question about fly weights

Hello all,

I have been fly fishing for about a year and a half now and I have been having tons of fun. My only downfall is that I don't have a mentor in the nearby area (High Point/Greensboro) to show me the stuff that I haven't been able to pick up on my own or by reading posts. Well if anyone is interested in showing me some stuff nearby, anything from fly tying to casting to locations for bass feel free to send me a message. **I consider nearby to be within 30 minutes!**

I have a 6 wt rod with 7 wt Cortland 333 WFF fly line, what weight ranges for flies can I thow with this? I have tried some large foam bass flies but it does not feel right when I cast, alternately I have tried smaller but heavier bead headed flies (circled on picture) and usually on the back cast it feels like it jerks so hard it might snap off. I think this means that it is too heavy, is there any info you all can offer? I usually just try something to find out if it works but since this feels wrong while still getting the job done I figured I would ask.
