Default Saltwater flies for LM

While in NJ..... yeah I was there 5 years. Got introduced to smallmouth and man... my favorite fish on the fly by far!!!! Will drive to Richmond for the opportunity! Anyway, I read an article by Lefty Kreh or Bob Clouser in which he spoke of the benefits of using saltwater flies to catch larger smallies. It worked on the Delaware and the Millstone rivers, I caught fewer but larger smallies on med sized saltwater clousers. Just curious anyone here try Saltwater clousers or striper flies/poppers for LM? If you think about it, the profile of saltwater flies more closer matches the approx size of crankbaits and jigs........
