Default Volunteers needed - JEPFEC Fly Fish Clinics (Fayetteville NC)

We have finalized the schedule for the JEPFEC (Fayetteville NC) Fly Fishing Clinics for 2008 and are looking for a few good volunteers to add to our roster. We have said many times that we could not put these courses on without the help of the volunteers. That still holds true. I hope some of you will consider helping out in 2008. We don't expect our volunteers to make every clinic but we do need them to commit to at least half of them. You also don't need to be an expert. Just having the basic skills and a willingness to share the joy of our sport with others will go a long ways.

The pay is not great. Lake Rim Parks have promised coffee and a sausage biscuit and the NCWRC will undoubtedly send us a nice letter and some other token of their appreciation. The payment that I find so rewarding is the smiles and "thanks" we receive such as in this photo

As a volunteer you will also have limited access to the ponds during the week to test flies and polish your techniques. Sort of like having your own delayed harvest pond.

If you or any friends who are fly fishermen might be interested in volunteering, please contact me for an interview.

The 2008 schedule is as follows.

One thousand trout are being scheduled to arrive on Wednesday, December 19th, 2007. (More on this later as the date is confirmed and a time of arrival established).

We are scheduling three beginner clinics, one advanced clinic and the Boy Scout Merit Badge event again this year. Dates have already been locked in.

Beginner Clinic
January 12th
January 26th
February 2nd

Advanced Clinic
February 16th

Boy Scouts Weekend
March 1st
March 15th (only if necessary)

Warm Water Clinic
TBA (Probably mid-June)

All clinics are limited to the first 40 participants

You could also pass the schedule around to folks who might be thinking about taking up fly fishing. NCWRC furnishes all the equipment (Bring your own if you want), The cost is $5 for a 6 hour block of instruction. Some of our volunteers could easily hire out with some of the major fly fishing schools. I always learn something new at each clinic.
