Looking for some input on safety equip.
I am probably going to buy a ACR Electronics RESQFIX 406 GPS PLB soon.
They are about $600.00, If you don't know, in case of emergency at sea or land and all other means of contact are exhausted you raise the antenna and push the button.
At that point hopefully the unit finds a GPS fix and transmitts it along with your personal info to satellites from there to ground monitoring station then to proper rescue in your area, this happens in about 3-30 mins. These units have come along way and are not much larger than a cell phone. Yes I know $600.00 is a lot of money well for me anyway, however who of us has not spent that or more on firearms, fishfinders and the list goes on. I have'nt needed my seat belt or pulled my weapon in years but I was sure glad when I needed them and they where there.
My birthday is coming up and as many kids as I take out a year fishing I thought this would be the time. Any input would be appreciated.
