Any advice welcomed!

I am planning on taking my 2005 180 LE Four Winns Sport boat out of Masonboro inlet for spanish and kings in the near future. It is 18' length, 8' beam with a 220hp Mercruiser sterndrive, and weighs about 2700lbs. It's fully equipped with coastguard approved safety equipment. I plan on going offshore no more than 3 to 5 miles on very calm days. What do you think? Would a 20 ft. CC fishing boat offer substantially greater stability for short runs offshore. Would this boat be ok for the above mentioned? Any advice is appreciated.
