| The gang and I (wife and son) skipped the New River in the morning and went to queens creek on sunday afternoon. I wanted to use strickly artificials, so we used 2 inch white gulp shrimp, with 1/8th oz jig heads. We fished the lower part first and I got a pinfish, and she just got hits. I'm leading. We then went to Parrots swamp ( the back 40) and just infront of the main cut, first cast the wife gets a nice size trout, then proceeds to losing it at the boat. Going by the old house for sale, she picks up a 14 inch flounder. We then see a lot of swirls in the water, and she gets a lizard fish, then a pinfish, I still have hits and thats it. We trolled the whole area on a falling tide and after seeing massive swirls in the water and not catching anything, I figured we were trying to catch big mullet bcause this little cove was filled with bait. We then went up just below the horseshoe oysterbar and I get a small croaker on a popping cork on the first cast. Not bad of a day. |
