Smile Fishing Topsail in May

My wife needs a break after another hard semester of school so we are renting a place on Topsail Island for a week mid May.

The place I rented has a dock in a creek that goes into Stump Sound near eastern Permuda Island (oh my, how did that happen!). I'll be bringing my 16F Jon Boat w/ 50hp outboard and my 8WT fly rod but don't know exactly what to expect. All of my fishing experience is freshwater!

I guess I have a couple questions
1) Is the boat launch at the bridge my best bet?
2) What kind of fishing activities are best in that ICW/back area for fly and otherwise? All I hear about is Redfish!

I've already read both "Redfish on the Fly" by Capt John Kumiski, "Inshore Angler" by Mike Marsh.

Thanks in advance (Topsail Angler!)
