june 2nd, 3rd @ holden beach

hi all
anybody know whats been happening at holden beach lately? im planning to go down for my birthday which is friday and spend a couple of days one of which will be entirely spent fishing. i wont have money for charters or guides, so what can a guy do from surf or pier?
appreciate any help.
