Low Vs. High what tide is better?

I've been fishing mainly around the base area:up and down onslow beach, the turn bridge area, and some of the LZ's. I go mostly when i have the time. Most of the time i hook a croaker or two, or a blue or shark once in awhile. if been using spanish minnows alot lately cause it gets more hits, but does the tide really effect how well the fishing is going to be and if so which on is better?
