Default Lower Neuse/Adams Creek Report

Tugged the boat back down to the coast Saturaday morning. Both she and I spent most of September landlocked...

Slid out of Godrey's Creek on Sunday morning, just me, the dog and hopes of a few nice hours on the water.

Wind was honking pretty good, so decided to slide into one of the creeks feeding Adams Creek and see if I could drum up a little action.

There were some glass minnows and a school or two of menhaden in the mouth of the creek so I settled in for awhile. The action was not especially hot but steady enough to keep me engaged. Tried an array of artificials - white curly tail grub, gulp crab and a couple different colors of gulp shrimps - all fished carolina rig. The new penny 3" gulp shrimp was definately the hot artifical bait. Boated eight fish - I think thats the count - most were flounder and the biggest was 17 inches. Did pick up a couple pups and one trout. So the inshore slam was accomplished.

Ended the trip by working a stretch of shoreline on Adams Creek after tossing the net and getting some small mullets for live bait. Got two real nice tugs on the live bait that ripped drag for just a couple of seconds before coming unglued. Mystery fish - that's what keeps you coming back.

Nice day on the water, even with the blow, and burned a whopping 2.1 gallons.

Tight lines!!
