Cool Sneads Ferry/Topsail

This is sort of a late post, being that I just registered on this site tonight, but nonetheless it is a report. Last weekend took the boat out for a little fishing. Started out at the New River inlet. Caught a few nice sized spots right off the bat and landed several smaller blues. After the pin fish found out where I was I decided to move on to the 172 bridge at the back gate. Didn't stay there very long, too many boats for my taste. I did manage to catch a couple flounder while I was there though, both were too small of course, the biggest being just 12.5 long. Went to "The Hill" for a short lunch and then ran down the waterway towards topsail. Ended up across from the old ocean city pier on the sound side. Caught several Pigfish before finally landing a small redfish (15") that was released and a couple keeper black drum, the biggest wieghing in right at 3lbs. Not a great day by any means, but caught enough fish to keep the wife interested and enjoyed a nice day on the water. Didn't get chance to go back out the following sunday, but brother-in-law was in the area of the new river inlet that day and said he was catching a lot of decent blues and heard of a couple of guys hitting on the specks pretty good just inside the inlet.
