Just moved to the eastern shore from western PA

Hello everyone. As the title says, I just moved here from western PA (near Pittsburgh). I was an avid fisherman in PA, mostly for bass and trout in streams and small rivers. I'm looking for information on fishing here. I live in New Bern and just basically want to know where to fish (no boat for me yet).
I also was hoping to know where the best spots are at Atlantic Beach/Emerald Isle/Fort Macon.
And lastly, what kind of rod/reel setup is needed? Fishing here is a whole different ballgame compared to what I am used to!
