| I have never been a serious fisher although my dad was when I was a kid and we lived near the Keys in S Florida. Since then dad is not really sure why to bother fishing for "bait" and so we have hunted and done other things in the last 30+ years. Well I have dabbled a few times but never really enjoyed fishing from a dock or shoreline and so last week I bought myself a Coleman Scanoe! I was impressed with it's weight rating and I had done quite a bit of canoeing as a young man and kayaking in my early - mid 20s. Scanoe is a canoe with squared off end with transom mount. I have just got off ebay where I bought a Minn Kota 55lb thrust trolling motor to go with it and will be shopping for a deep cycle battery soon. (Any suggestions? I know I love Optimas for my Jeep hobby) I live in Kernersville, will be based out of there for fishing, probably hit the local rivers and lakes for the most part. I think I am going to buy a couple different reels to try out, mostly I have used the old Zepco 33s, but have seen the baitcasters and thought I would try one out. Maybe a fly fishing pole too..? Anyway, all suggestions welcome...especially good places to put in a small boat and WHAT to fish for / with! (Catch / release....and if there is good eating, some recipes or ways to fix em on the grill?) Sam |
