new to area living in clayton

loving the area just moved down in feb from maine, did alot of small bass fishing on the penobscot river in northern part of maine. need tips up in maine just write. I have been fishing lake wheeler and not much luck, people around us catching fish, do have a boat . any tip would be helpful for large mouth.
