novice angler and member hello all. i am posting for the first time. i have been a member since july. my name is Larry. i enjoy all types of fishing but am limited to shore (no boat owner). i have been sitting in the background and just reading through. decided to try and introduce myself to all. i enjoy reading the post i guess i am a bit shy in posting myself after all i am just a novice that likes to fish and learn more about it and where the hot spots are. i am learning the terminology along with some techniques. i was recently in the Outer Banks area and got a chance to surf fish after work. i really enjoyed myself along the coast from Rodanthe to Naggs Head. i didn't catch too much but i learned a lot. i did catch my first drum that was cool. i did find some helpful people in directing me to some spots that i was able to catch some fish. i tried as much as possible but again i am just a novice. tried to catch some trout, no luck. tried to catch some flounder, no luck. i think it was my technique. no problem with the Red Drum they just jump on your line. however, i was catching and releasing due to the size i was catching but i did manage to catch one that was of legal size. i enjoyed it. i caught my first Red Drum in Nagg's Head from the surf next to Jeanette's Pier. i went to Rodanthe but not sure where and what to do from the surf was not successful. i went where they say there was a sunken ship on the left and i tried also on the right at the sight where there was a historical cemetery for some flounder and trout but had no luck there. i guess i was just in the wrong spot at the time and perhaps my technique was not up to par. so again i say hello to all. any tips would be greatly appreciated. i am leaglly licensed in both Virginia and North Carolina. i live in Virginia Beach but i work throughout the Carolina's based in Fayetteville. so i travel through the state at any given time due to my profession. tight lines to all.
