topsail beach fishing

I lived in NC for 8 years but never did fish at the beach. I now live in washington state and I,m coming to topsail beach for a week in the middle of May and was wondering how you fish at the beach from the shore. I think it,s like we fish here but not sure, If someone could give me some tip that would be great. GM
