MOREHEAD CITY – Biologists in the Elizabeth City office of the N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries have ramped up research on river herring.
In the Morehead City office, the Oyster Sanctuary program is preparing for six new positions to complement a new research oyster hatchery at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
The fall issue of Fish Eye News, which was posted today, takes an in-depth look at the expansions of these two programs and how DMF is working to improve the health of the fisheries.
Additionally, it chronicles the history of the state’s Stock Status Report and how it is used in fisheries management decisions.
