MFC Southeast Advisory Comm. 12/13/05

The Marine Fisheries Commission (MFC) Southeast Advisory Committee will meet on Tuesday, December 13 at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Wilmington Regional Office, located at 127 Cardinal Drive Extension in Wilmington, NC.

The committee will receive a presentation on stone crab research and discuss stone crab management options. The committee last discussed the issue in July 2004. Research on stone crabs funded by the Fisheries Resource Grant Program has been completed. The MFC delayed action on proposed measures until such research has been funded.

The committee will also receive updates on MFC/DMF activities that affect the Southeast District. The committee has also been asked by an advisor to discuss the management of gill nets in Buzzard Bay. Information on gill nets in that area was presented at the last meeting.
