Cape Fear b/w Wilm. & Snows Cut

Hey everyone,

I was out for about 2hrs. Caught 2 small reds, One 28" red and a gar. It was a strange outing. The gar was a strange catch that far toward the waterway. He hit a chartreuse and orange rattle trap in the grass. I thought it was a big red at first.

Here is the really strange part of the day. I experimented a little with a rig i dreamed up for reds using live bait. I caught a red on the rig, but the red somehow broke the line connected to me, but kept the fish and the large bobber. He swam around with the bobber going up and down so i decided to go get him & my rig! I followed the bobber around for about 10 min. before i was able to grab the line. It was pretty funny, but it was my big red for the day. Threw him on the grill and well you know the rest. Have a good week.
