Today, I had my good friend Rob aboard as we set out to make an offshore trip for our first Dolphin trip of the year. Well, as has been the case so far this year, the weather man lied once again and the seas were a little rougher than expected. Our original plan was to start fishing at about 20 miles and work our way out. As luck would have it, we started at the 20 mile area, and stayed there most of the day.

We put lines in around 0700 and it wasn't long before we had a little Dolphin come crashing through the spread and nail a daisy chain we were running in the prop wash. Soon after that, this nice gaffer Dolphin hit a ballyhoo on the port short line. Rob did a great job fighting this fish and soon it was in the fish box.


We had a great day with steady action up till about 11:00 and then it got sporadic the rest of the day. We ended up with 5 Dolphin (4 gaffers) and 4 King Mackerel. Summer fishing at it's finest.
