Default Fight-N-Lady Report Morehead City Marlins Everywhere!

Had a day off today so I am taking a few minutes to do a quick report. The fishing has been pretty good the last few days. Saturday was a little bumpy with a SE swell from Bertha & a STIFF NE wind which made things a little more exciting but all in all we had a fair day. The Mahis were no where to be found but the Wahoos wanted to chew a little but once you had a bite it was very hard to circle because of the seas. I think under a little better conditions the bite would have been very good. Sailfish where inshore around 20 Fathoms with the Wahoo from there out to the break. A few King Mackeral mixed in just enough to be a bother & eat a perfectly good Ballyhoo. Sunday it was a different ocean big SE Swell but it was so spread out you could run 30 knots & not even know it was there. Started off meat fishing & got the word about a HOT Marlin bite which I was able to convince my crowd to give it a try for a while we ended catching 1 out of 3 on the Blue Marlin in less than an 1 1/2 hours but my crowd insisted on meat fishing so I had to go back inshore. Man it was the hardest thing I have ever done to have to leave a bite like was going on I thought Ryan was going to jump ship on me & swim to the Impulse he spent the day out there & ended up with 2 Blue Marlin, 3 White Marlin & 1 Sail just missing a double Grand Slam congrats to Cameron! The bite we had was a very hot bite he piled on the short bridge pole blistered about 50 feet of drag very quick & he just came loose I went in a hrd turn he piled on the right short & Ryan gave it to him & you could just see hi deleted word it in & when the drag slid up it was a very angry fish but what he did not know was he bit the right rod which was a 80wide in the short rigger which let us make short work of him. Ryan grabbed the leader in about 15 minutes & we went crazy I thought once he was coming in the cockpit. After a good release I had my orders to go look for some more meat which we did. If you are looking to catch a Billfish now is the time. As far as the inshore fishing there is plenty of Spanish with a few Kings mixed in jus on the beach which is perfect for the 1/2 Day trips or just want to take the family & kids out to have a good time. Maybe the Marlins will be as friendly this weekend with the Barta Tournament coming up. Tight Lines!
