PKS / Newport River report 10-3

Bankandsurf (Brad) and I finally got down to the coast this weekend for our bi-annual fishing trip. Started at the Iron Steamer fishing access in PKS and had little luck. We caught a couple small pompano and a few decent sized sea mullet, which we used for cut bait, and one 16" sea mullet, which Brad kept for eating.

That evening, we headed out to the public access pier on the Newport River near Beaufort about 9pm. caught a few spot, then nothing. Fished until midnight and decided to pull out and go home. Brad said "ok, one more cast" and all of a sudden the fishing was on. We stayed out until 2am and ended up with 13 spot, 2 nice sized croaker, a couple blues and 2 snails .
