Exclamation Redbreast Sunfish Print Honors Former Chairman; Sales to Support NC Aquatic Programs

RALEIGH, N.C. (July 17) – When he wasn’t busy practicing law or serving as Chairman of the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission, John E. Pechmann could be found fishing the blackwaters of eastern North Carolina for redbreast sunfish (robin), his favorite fish.

The Fayetteville attorney and 13-year Commissioner passed away unexpectedly in July 2006. To commemorate his legacy as an avid angler and long-time supporter of fisheries management, the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission is offering the “John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center Redbreast Sunfish” print with optional stamp to sportsmen interested in supporting fisheries education and conservation in North Carolina.

The limited edition print, available Aug. 1, is based on an acrylic watercolor by well-known wildlife artist Duane Raver and depicts the colorful sunfish in its natural habitat.

Proceeds from print and stamp sales will go to the Commission’s John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center for aquatic programs conducted at the Fayetteville-based center and outreach projects coordinated across the state, including a mobile aquarium, kids’ Fish-for-Fun events and the Tackle Loaner Program.

The print is available with or without a stamp. Prices are:

730 signature proofs $75
66 artist proofs $125
Remarques $15
Stamps $10
Stamp with artist signature $12

To purchase a print and stamp or for additional information, call the Wildlife Resources Commission toll-free at (866) 945-3746, or visit the agency’s N.C. Wild Store at www.ncwildlife.org.
