Default Bear Island Lures?

Going with couple o friends thar o'r Memorial Day weekend. Will be mostly yak fishing innercoastal side. Any tips on lures appreciated. Also, live baits(buy or catch?), and what type, and, if catch then method. I remember going there on Memorial day weekend about ten yrs ago, had one rod, and a 6 pack of some rubber red headed tail waggin minnow, rod had 4 lb test and reel had crappy drag mechanism. I hooked up on nearly my first cast with each lure, and subsequently lost each one to a hungry something or other(ARRRRRGGGHHH!). All I could think of was that one day I would be back and prepared. Will be trying to camp on N. end of island(any honey holes in this area appreciated, if you are in Rocky Mount(Tar River) area(will gladly repay with honey holes and methods I know of there).
