Default Currituck Sound (Corolla Area)

Hey fellow anglers, just joined this evening gonna start off with some questions about Outer banks.

I'll be down for the week and fishing of course. From what I've read, it is my understanding a freshwater license is needed north of Rt 158 bridge. Is the water there actually fresh or brackish. I'm trying to get some lures together, and wanna know what to bring, I'll probably just end up bringing my fresh and salt tackle. What can I expect to catch in that area?

Also what license(s) should I acquire in order to fish Currituck Sound, maybe Pamilco Sound, and to surf fish?
